Bastet, also called Bast, was an ancient Egyptian cat-headed goddess. The patron of joy and the fertilizing warmth of the sun, she should be holding a sistrum in her right hand and her aegis in her left .Fashioned of bronze and gold, this figure, dates to the Late Period in Egyptian history (945 and 718 B.C.).
